Taylor Elise Colimore (she/her) is an emerging multimedia artist, born in Baltimore, Maryland, and currently living in Richmond, Virginia. Taylor graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a B.F.A. in Kinetic Imaging, a fine arts program with emphasis in animation, sound, video, and performance art.
Her visual art practice consists of both digital and analog art making techniques, often creating work with second hand craft and/or fiber based materials and enhancing them through digital techniques such as video, animation, and electronic hardware. This practice enables experimentation and intuition as a part of her art making process. As a performance artist, she primarily writes music with live code. Through the coding language, Ruby, she crafts realtime musical loops in the Live-Coding environment, Sonic Pi. No two performances are ever alike due to the experimental and playful nature that live-coding encourages.
Taylor has exhibited locally at The Anderson and the Seipel Gallery at VCUarts. She has also performed as a part of the International Conference on Live Coding, local music series: Shockoe Sessions Live!, and 1708 Gallery’s Annual InLight Exhibition, as well as at local venues including the Seipel Gallery at VCUarts and Gallery5.
She currently works for VCUarts as an Administrative Affairs Coordinator for the Cinema Program and the Departments of Communication Arts, Kinetic Imaging, and Photography + Film, where she manages all of their communications and social media. She also works for local recording label, Shockoe Records hosted at In Your Ear Studios in Shockoe Bottom, as their Social Media Coordinator.
