Introducing the first weaving in a series of works exploring my experience with friendships. Continuing the use of alphabet beads from my Thesis Project, Alphabet Bead Manifesto, but this time in a more intentional way because of their relation to friendship bracelets. I made this weaving over 8 months working very on and off and every horizontal row took about 45 minutes to weave each.

I created a bit of forced perspective in this documentation because I intend for this work to be seen from close up and from yards away. From far away, you can see a portrait of myself as a child, and from up close you can see the symbols on the beads and the phrase “Best Friends Forever.”
I am really interested in playing with these two different perspectives of the same work and how your perception of the piece changes based on your physical proximity to it.
